Final arrangements are now taking place for the very first Irish Harness Race Meeting to be broadcast by the PMU (and their international affiliates) on Sunday, 4th June.
This is one of the better days to be broadcasting into France as it will be held following the running of the Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) programme from Chantilly.
This race meeting will further advance what has already been achieved and also be the commencement of a new era for Irish harness racing – something that most people thought would never be possible. Everyone involved in bringing this together from the licence holders to the owners, trainers, drivers and other participants should be proud of this achievement.
Contracts from France have now arrived and are currently being reviewed.
The meeting will commence at approximately 16.00 with an eight race card scheduled.
The programme will include:
- Each of the PMU races will offer prizemoney of €7.000
- There will be three 3yr old Trotteur-Francais races as part of the series
For Le-Trot and the PMU this is a Trial Meeting. There will be Representatives and Official Observers from France. And, in preparation for this meeting, Stewards have been to France learning more about procedures to be followed.
In addition, the racing television broadcaster in France Equidia, have confirmed they will be replaying the programme produced about Irish harness racing during the lead-up week to the meeting.
Apart from France, the meeting will be broadcast and bet on across multiple European countries.
Let’s all work together to ensure both capacity fields and competitive racing.
