It is with regret that we learn of the passing of Mr Liam Wallace R.I.P, an honorary member of the IHRA and Hall in Fame inductee of 2015, known to many as “The Governor”.
Liam dedicated some six decades to all matters harness racing related and made his last visit to Portmarnock Raceway in very recent weeks.
Probably one of the sharpest mind-sets in the business, on the field of play he was able to outwit the best in the business.
Liam built the Newtown Stud brand as a leading player in the breeding, training and racing end of the harness racing business both at home and at an International level.
Buying and selling came as a natural flair to Liam who was happy to sell the best horses he had today as he always knew a better one was on the way.
His legacy lives on with his sons and grandsons all taking an active role in racing over the years … but his likes will not be seen again.
We would like to extend our sincere sympathy to his wife Emily, sons Liam, Alan & Gary, his daughters Lisa & Amanda and the extended Wallace family.
R.I.P.
