IHRA Upgrade to Passport Producing Equipment

Upgrade Pic

The Irish Harness Racing Association completed an essential upgrade to its passport production system, ensuring it can meet the growing demand for equine identification documentation in Ireland. This project involved replacing outdated computers with modern, high-performance laptops and installing a specialised passport printer capable of producing secure, high-resolution documents that meet regulatory standards. The upgrade has significantly increased the speed and efficiency of passport processing, reducing administrative delays and enabling the IHRA to make full use of its breeding and identification database. Faster processing times directly support breeders, owners, and sales agents by ensuring foals can be registered and sold with valid passports, thereby improving traceability and compliance. The upgraded equipment has also enhanced the clarity and quality of printed passports, ensuring better readability of scanned markings. All allocated funds were used as approved, and all objectives were fully achieved.

This update was funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Equine Technical Support Scheme 2025.
